Meet Don
Don Grant is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional in Wichita, Kansas.
Don has a wealth of life experiences that give him the ability to help guide a wide range of investors.
Originally from California, Don is a former US Navy Intelligence Officer. He received his commission after several years as an enlisted Photographic Intelligence Specialist, serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence (CV-62).
While at Cal State University, Don traveled to France to study French language and eventually worked in Paris, Geneva and several other European cities to earn his keep and to hone his language skills.
Don’s primary education was broadcast media and journalism; so he worked his way up the ladder at several TV news stations across the country as a producer, photographer, business reporter and primary anchor. He moved his young family to Wichita with NBC television where Don co-anchored nightly news broadcasts and reported on local business/aviation news.
Life as a News Anchor was great, the industry was changing. Don wanted to set roots in Wichita rather than move to another television market. After all, now there were two lil Midwestern daughters; Abigail and Natalie.
Don followed a passion and began working in finance with Smith Barney in 2002. In 2006 he embarked upon a course of study to become a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, and in 2007 passed the rigorous 2-day exam to achieve certification. In 2013 he combined his financial planning practice to a boutique firm which has led to his principal partner position at Sabre Wealth.
Don is active in the community and has served and led several community boards including the Kansas Aviation Museum, Wichita Art Museum, Wichita Festivals, Students in Free Enterprise at WSU, Financial Freedom Foundation and the Wichita Wagonmasters.
A lot of Don’s ‘leisure’ time is spent working on the house and several residential and commercial properties. He has taken-on everything from minor repairs to major remodel projects. Don began collecting and restoring Mid-Century Modern furniture and art a few years ago. He is a longtime snow skier, working to reach his potential in tennis, and attends regular ‘boot camps’ to keep in shape.
